Understanding "Sundowning" in Senior Pets

It starts subtly. Your dog, who used to sleep through the night, starts waking up at 2 AM. They might pace the hallway, stare at walls, or pant for no reason. It’s scary, and it’s exhausting for the whole family.

This behaviour is often referred to as "Sundowning," a symptom of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (doggie dementia).

The "Villain" here is a brain that is struggling to regulate its sleep-wake cycles and manage anxiety. It’s not that they are "bad" dogs; they are confused dogs. As their guide, your job is to create a rhythm that anchors them.

Establishing a strict routine helps, but nutrition plays a massive role in brain health. The brain is 60% fat, and it needs fuel. The MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides) found in our coconut and hemp oil base, combined with the neuro-protective properties of Lion’s Mane mushroom, can help provide an alternative energy source for an aging brain.

While we can't stop time, we can fuel the engine to help the fog clear, giving you both a peaceful night’s sleep.
